Now totally renovated, Bailey Cottage, is situated in Gargrave residing on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal passing through the village.

Blair23 June 2024Located in the heart of Gargrave but away from the traffic noise this was a good base for walking and local eateries such as fish and chips as well as a choice of pubs. Well equipped and spacious for the two of us. There was plenty of walking available with different routes which made it ideal to leave the car and explore. Why not 5/5? The small fridge had the door shelf missing which limited the storage. Although we had wonderful weather for the duration of the stay there is a small bench to sit out within the courtyard. Unfortunately the area is shared with a neighbour who placed washing out all day bar one day which blocked the sun and views restricting us from using it. Instead we walked to the other side of the river, approximately 500 metres and used the village recreational areas there.
Peter16 June 2024Lydia's cottage is a wonderful place to stay, it is comfortable, homey and very well appointed. All the details are done well - the King bed on the first floor was very comfortable, the linens and towels are high quality, and the kitchen was well equipped, including 6 matching proper wine glasses!. The space was very clean upon arrival. The location is right in Gargrave village, and the Pennine Way and Leeds-Liverpool canal towpath are both within a few minutes walk from the cottage, so there is very convenient access to good walking. Lydia always replied very quickly and is a pleasure to work with..

Paul29 April 2024A lovely cottage and village. Easy to find with parking outside. Tasteful and cosy. Comfortable beds and excellent (easy to use) shower. Kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of room for five. Great location for the Dales. Local Co op, chip shop and hotel/pub for eating out. Such a clean cottage. No problems at all but Lydia was easily contactable. Would very happily return.

Jessica1 April 2024Really, really enjoyed our stay at Lydia’s immaculately decorated cottage in Gargrave. Everything was perfect and cannot fault it. Comfortable beds & bedding, good shower/bathroom, well stocked kitchen etc. Would stay again!
Greg2 January 2024Lydia’s property is perfect if you are looking for a relaxing retreat with nice local immunities, but somewhere that’s close to other areas of Yorkshire. We loved our stay. Lydia is also a great host. She is responsive and helpful, and was very accommodating towards us. A pleasure to stay in her home.
Louise7 June 2024Wonderful ☺ Good location in Gargrave. Beautiful cottage with everything we needed. Great to have a washing machine. We had good meals at the Swan and Bollywood, as well as enjoying drinks at the Mason Arms. Comfy beds. Very good communication from the host. ☹ We found it strange that the temperature was controlled by the host but when we asked for it to be made warmer they did.

Barbara19 March 2024Homely and cosy ☺ Bailey Cottage is based in great location, Gargrave is a lovely village with plenty places to eat, train station and bus connections. The Cottage itself is very specious and well equipped. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, cottage gave us an opportunity to feel comfortable and chill our walks. Not far from Malham (famous Malham Cove walk), great connection to Skipton too (you can walk alongside Leeds- Liverpool canal). Bailey Cottage is highly recommended with every aspect. ☹ Nothing, everything was perfect for what we needed.

David15 September 2023A well set up house for exploring the Dales. Highly recommended. ☺ Location was excellent for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. House was well setup for the three of us. Two of the kitchen chairs were partially broken, and when reported, they were replaced immediately by our host, which was much appreciated. ☹ It was very warm and humid when we were there, and sleeping was difficult. A comment I would make, NOT just for this property, but for ALL properties in these times of global warming, is that electric or ceiling fans should be provided to help keep cool for sleeping (and general) comfort. Stand alone electric fans are not expensive.

A quick walk to The Gamekeepers Inn for great pub food, sit on the village green outside The Fountain at Linton or grab a coffee whilst you stroll through the picturesque, cobbled streets of Grassington.
After a busy day walking, cycling or fishing relax with a visit to the pool and spa complex just a short walk across the field.
